From the Landmark Tutorial Day 2 (Sept 21st 2010, Yarra Valley), ‘The Great Australian Blend’ with Charlie Melton. Appearance: relatively light to medium ruby, orange rim.
Nose: tea-tree and tea like nose, mellowed herbaceous notes – more Cabernet-like on the nose than the 1976 vintage is currently showing – and some Christmas-cake spice aromas.
Palate: quite angular palate, developed herbal flavours with Cabernet-dominated structure – at least in terms of how the wine is showing now (in actual fact it is 85%). Drying, big coating even gripping tannins, lifting acidity and good to very good length.
Conclusion: more angular than the 1976. Does this wine need further time to come together? It should certainly continue to develop.
