This stretches the boundaries of cabby though. A deeply hued magenta in the glass. A soothing amazing nose of dark cherries, blackberry, rich earth and herbal notes and now - finally - deep cedar spice notes to the chocolate nose. This is a killer. The palate is elegant and suave. Dominated by easy sweet dark cherry tannins that pull (gently) to the blackberry and chocolate. The aftertaste is rich with good acidity and sweet dark cherries & chocolate. It was outstanding before - better now. Amazing vintage and a tremendous job in the cellar. Dark berries are not spared on the beautiful nose of this wine: black cherry and black currant are rich and deep. There is a slight oak influence noticeable, along with leather and earth. On the palate the dark fruit is upfront and it glades into vanilla, mocha and earth. There is a strong tanning structure to support this load of elements, as well as a good kick of acidity leading to a bitter licorice finish. As far as I can remember I never had such a complex wine for this price.
